Camp Beer Co. – Upstream Pale Ale Review
Camp Beer Co. is one of the new school Langley brewers, having debuted around Christmas 2019 alongside Farm Country Brewing. Adding in Trading Post Brewing and 5 Roads Brewing (just down the road apiece) you have the Langley Brew Loop. We picked up a sample of their Upstream Pale Ale and were extremely pleased with the results.
This beer pours a pale yellowy gold, with a very slight haze. Aroma is very tropical for a Pale Ale, with papaya and pineapple. Such a nice hop bouquet.
This beer has some mouthfeel. It’s crisp on the palate, but not completely so. There is a bit of silkiness to it.
It’s like a hybrid West Coast Pale Ale with an East Coast touch. Brewer Dave Henry has come up with something that is just slightly hazy and with definite tropical hops, but not like a full-on Northeast IPA.
Dave mentions, “I wanted to bridge the gap between the hazy beers and old school hoppy beers. This one is all whirlpool hopped but it’s clear and has some hop bite.”
This was a very enjoyable food beer, but also appropriate for enjoying on its own in a session. One of the BeerSeekers got in trouble for gulping down his can faster than he should have. Good thing the other BeerSeeker had picked up a four pack.
