Granville Island Brewing – So-Cal Style IPA Review
The newest release in Granville Island Brewing Company’s small-batch series is the So-Cal Style IPA. The beer pours a hazy orange to copper colour with two fingers of off-white head that leave plenty of lacing behind in the glass. The aroma is of mango, passion fruit, tropical fruit, caramel, and a subtle banana note. In the mouth flavours of caramel and toast are initially prominent, but are soon joined by tropical fruit, a light piney note, and some alcohol heat. This medium-bodied IPA initially disguises its higher ABV but as the beer warms that alcohol becomes more prominent. The lower dank hop character allows the malts to show through making this IPA surprisingly easy to drink.
Alcohol – 7.8%
IBU – 80
