Ravens Brewing Co. – Barrel Aged Belgian Tripel Review
Ravens Brewing Company brings us a new installment from their barrel-aged series in this Barrel Aged Belgian Tripel. The beer pours a cloudy golden colour with half a finger of off-white head that dissipates quickly leaving no lacing behind. The aroma is of grain and bread, along with prominent caramel, and yeast tones. These aromas mix with a berry-infused herbal note along with a lingering note of banana. In the mouth the flavours of caramel and yeast initially dominate but are joined by banana, melon, and bready notes, coupled with funk and oak hiding just under the surface. This medium to full-bodied beer comes with a weighty mouthfeel. The 9.0% alcohol shows up as warming with increasing intensity, ending with a slightly yeasty and mildly bitter finish.
