Field House Brewing Co. – Dry Hopped Hazy Sour Double IPA Review
The naming alone is a real mouthfeel but the flavour can only be expected to live up to the name. While only labelled at 22 IBUs this is a sour, unfiltered Double IPA. From the 500ml bottle this beer pours a very cloudy, golden colour with a finger and a half of head that settles quickly and without a trace. The aroma is fruity with a big orange and passion fruit tone along with a yeasty, sour character. Tasting the beer it has a fairly big body and a sour sharpness. The sourness is mellowed though by the body and a mellow boozy character. This along side the big hop flavour of tropical fruit and citrus character. The overall flavour is quite nice and the sourness is balanced with sweetness and hop flavour but one could argue that this isn’t an IPA. With very low bitterness it is more of a dry hopped sour than a double IPA.
