Vancouver Island Brewing – Juan De Fuca Cerveza Review
Vancouver Island has turned their brand upside down and one of the beers that came out of the rebrand is the Juan De Fuca Cerveza. Using Maize in the recipe, this Mexican styled beer is a sessionable 4.8% alcohol and is available in 6-packs, 12-packs and the VIB mixer case. Pouring the beer from the 355ml can it is a hazy-golden colour and has one thick fingers worth of head which settles at a moderate pace leaving no signs of lacing behind on the glass. The aroma has a sweetness to it along side a malty base with a slight citrus character. Tasting the beer it has a distinct sweetness and a bit more body than you may expect. This comes along side a higher than expected carbonation which helps to balance the sweetness. The beer progresses with the sweetness and emerges with a light graininess along side the citrus notes from the nose. Overall this beer is a touch on the sweet side of things but comes off refreshing and a slight twist on the typical light, session beers that BC craft beer drinkers have come to enjoy.
Alcohol – 4.8%
Size – 6 x 355ml (also in mix pack)

I think this is one of VIB’s new hits. I was surprised (especially after trying the new Sombrio Session Ale first… a big miss in my mind). A very refreshing and tasty beer for the Summer, which I’ll definitely be keeping a stock of to share.
Is it available in Kamloops?
