Riot Brewing Co. – Junk Punch India Pale Ale Review
With a label that resembles a large group of wincing men, the Junk Punch IPA appears to be named after exactly what you were thinking. Hinting at being a dangerous amount of hops, this IPA pours an amber-copper colour with three-plus fingers of lacing head. The aroma is of caramel, pine, citrus and honey with a lot of flavours coming in at once. Tasting the beer it is a hoppy one but with it comes a light body and caramel sweetness that is quite strong. The first notes are of pine, citrus and caramel and lead into a burnt, bitter flavour shortly after. This leaves an over-toasted toffee and caramel note lingering afterwards. The Junk Punch is sweet and bitter all in one and being relatively light bodied there isn’t a ton to prop up the beer’s intense flavour. If you are looking for a punch in the junk this beer may just do that for you.
