Granville Island Brewing – Lions Summer Ale Review
Released just in time for the spring thaw, Granville Island has brought out its new summer offering: the Lions Summer Ale. Brewed with fruit juices from passion fruit and pineapple, this summer beer offers a refreshing, fruity, and sessionable experience. Lions Summer Ale pours a slightly hazy golden colour with two fingers of lasting white head that leaves some lacing behind in the glass. The beer initially gives off aroma of lemon, citrus rind, and grapefruit, though pineapple, cereal grains, and mango become more apparent as the beer warms slightly. In the mouth are flavours of passion fruit, pineapple, citrus, and wheat. Lions summer ale comes with a light mouthfeel, and a lightly sweet yet slightly tart finish that is crisp and refreshing.
