Ravens Brewing Company – Clayburn Smoked Scotch Ale Review
As part of their new Heritage Series, Ravens Brewing Company is bringing out their Clayburn Smoked Scotch Ale. The recipe is the brainchild of Assistant Brewer Dan Marriette and is his first recipe to be bottled by the brewery. The beer pours from the bomber bottle a deep mahogany brown with two fingers of light brown lasting head that leaves no lacing behind on the glass. The aroma is of smoked wood and herbal notes, along with rich malt tones of toffee and figs. In the mouth the flavour is of rich malts, toffee, caramel, dark fruits and wood smoke to bind everything together. This is a nice medium bodied beer with a creamy mouthfeel and a slight bitterness that finishes clean in spite of the smoke.
Alcohol – 7.5%
