Tree Brewing Co. – Anniversary India Red Ale Review
Tree Brewing is celebrating another year gone by with an anniversary beer release. The 2017 brew is an India Red Ale brewed with Summit, Columbus, Tettnang and Mandarin Bavaria hops. At 75 IBUs and 6.5% alcohol this beer pours a colour of reddish-brown and is slightly hazy. With two fingers of head settling and leaving lacing behind on the glass this beer has an aroma of caramel, toasted malt and a spicy hop character. Darker than your typical IRA, this beer has a bit more in the roasted column than other, similarly styled beers. The flavour too has a distinct toasted malt character and a lightly burnt, caramel sweetness. This leads into a strong and deep bitterness that builds as the flavour progresses. The palate is left with a residual toasted bitterness that lingers long behind. This is a big flavoured India Red Ale with more to it than typical thanks to the toasted character and caramel tones.
Alcohol – 6.5%
IBU – 75
Hops – Summit, Columbus, Tettnang, Mandarin Bavaria
