Strathcona Beer Company – Smoked Porter Review
Strathcona Beer Company brings us a dark winter beer in the Smoked Porter. The beer pours from the bomber bottle a dark opaque black with two fingers of brown head that leaves behind some lacing. The aroma is dominated initially by roasted and burnt malt tones, with dark chocolate, wood and herbal notes manifesting later. In the mouth the flavour is primarily of roasted malts, coffee and bitter chocolate with the mild burnt and smoky notes presenting in a subtle manner. This smoked porter is lighter in body than expected with a moderate bitter finish that lingers long after the last sip.
