Trading Post Brewing Co. – Farmhouse Dark Tart Ale Review
Working wit CRAFT beer market on an exclusive beer release Trading Post Brewery has released what they are calling a Farmhouse Dark Tart Ale. This beer is 6.5% alcohol and is available on draft at CRAFT as well as in bomber bottles. From the bottle this beer pours a colour of deep amber-brown and is topped with a thin layer of quickly settling head. The aroma is sour with notes of cherry and plumb which give an earthy sweetness to the beer’s smell. Tasting the beer it starts off with a sour punch. Sour cherry notes take charge early on but fade into a rich dried fruit character. Notes of prune and mild spice come into the picture with a dark sweetness that cuts the early sour character. The initial hit is quite sour but overall the range of flavours comes across even and enjoyable. This is a Brett and Lacto soured beer that has a bit more to it than your typical sour making for an enjoyable ale.
