Trading Post Brewing Co. – Three Bears Breakfast Stout Review
The Three Bears Breakfast Stout is an espresso stout from Langley’s Trading Post Brewing. The Breakfast in the name of this beer refers to the coffee content, not the fact that it is a light beer that is appropriate for breakfast. At 6.7% this is a beer that is stronger than your typical stout and verges in the levels of its Imperial cousins. Pouring from the 473ml can this beer is deep brown in colour verging on being nearly black. Topped with two fingers of head the beer looks great as the head slowly settles leaving light lacing on the glass. Smelling the Three Bears Stout it is rich with notes of coffee, mild chocolate and roasted malt tones. This aroma transfers through to the flavour as well. In taking a sip from the glass notes of bitter coffee coming in up front and leading into a chocolate and coffee centre. A mild nuttiness also comes through in the mid section of this beer’s flavour. The finish is mostly coffee as the bitterness lingers along side a mild chocolate-sweetness. This is a strong stout with big coffee flavours that hit the palette with vigor; if you are a coffee-beer fan then this is a beer that you can’t miss!
