Brewed by Kelowna’s Tree Brewing Co the Duke’s Cider brand now includes an option with Pear. The Pear Apple Cider is an off-dry Apple Cider that is infused with the flavour of pear. Sold in mixed 12 packs this cider pours from the 355ml can nearly clear in colour. Only a faint yellow tinge hints from the bubbling liquid. No head whatsoever appears on the top of the cider and the aroma is sweet with apple and pear tones. The pear is subtle but that is expected as pear is a rather subtle flavour. Tasting the product the pear comes out more than you may expect. GIven that this product does not appear to use real pear in the recipe they must have added a lot of flavour to the mix. The result is a fairly sweet, pear-forward apple cider that has a bit more to the flavour than your typical cider. This may be a touch sweet for some but it is refreshing and fairly easy to drink.
