Fuggles & Warlock Craftworks – Cannon IPA Review
In the Fuggles & Warlock Craftworks Experimental IPA series of beers comes the Cannon IPA. Brewed with Ella, Topaz, Amarillo and Citra Hops this beer again takes a large number of hops to brew what is sure to be a complex flavour profile. Pouring this beer from the bomber bottle it is a colour of slightly hazy, golden amber and has two fingers of lacing head which settles slowly on top the beer. A big and juicy aroma comes from the beer with a massive punch of citrus and tropical fruit. The hop tones come across sweet rather than bitter and forcast a big bodied, big flavoured IPA. Tasting the beer, the body is quite big and smooth on the tongue. The bitterness has more of a kick than the aroma forecast with a deep bitterness that settles in early on. Along side the bitter tones the fruit/citrus notes build quickly as well and when the bitter subsides the fruity-sweetness of the hops takes control of the flavour. The finish is not as bitter as you may expect with the citrus-fruit notes and the sweetness factor lingering beyond the bitter tones.
