Cannery Brewing Co. – The Muse & Golden Promise Extra Pale Ale Review
An Extra Pale Ale is just as it sounds, it is a Pale Ale that takes things a little further. The Muse is 6.5% alcohol and 35 IBUs and comes in an intricately crafted labelled bottle. Pouring this beer it is a colour of gold and is topped with two full fingers of lacing head. From The Muse comes an aroma that is light and fresh with a defined malt character, citrus, pine and an earthiness that grounds the beer. The aroma is quite fragrant yet still forecasts a sessionable beer. Tasting the beer it is big with malt tones that lead into a light pine and citrus tone. The hops are not over the top but give balance and light bitterness to the brew. Simcoe hops can be thanked for the light and easy drinking nature of the beer while a 6.5% alcohol level gives bigger body and a bit of a kick to the brew. The Muse is a delicious and unique style of beer that will not be around for long.
