Tree Brewing Co. – Raw Series Black Lager Review
In the Tree Brewing Raw series of limited release beers comes brew number 4, a Black Lager. This beer comes in 6 packs of 355ml bottles and pours a dark, nearly black colour with a single finger of head. As the head slowly settles an aroma of coffee, chocolate and dark-roasted malts. The aroma is not of your typical lager and is more reminiscent of a porter on the nose. Tasting the beer it has a lightness up front with a bubbly texture. As the light start subsides the roasty, chocolate flavours build at the back of the tongue giving a light warming sensation. The chocolate notes take charge and bring together a caramel sweetness and mild bitterness. The flavour is light and balanced with strong chocolate flavours that add depth to the beer. This is no typical lager, it is dark, flavourful and almost dessert like in nature.

That sounds delightful. I hope they have it for sample at the Fest-of-Ale this year.
