Spinnaker’s Brewery – Queen Bee Honey Kolsch
The Spinnaker’s Brewery first released a Honey Kolsch in 2013 as their Happy New Beer winter seasonal. Since then the beer has evolved and is now packaged in convenient and affordable cans. At less than $10.00 per six pack this is one of the best buys in BC craft beer. From the can the beer pours as a light golden-straw colour with one finder of dense head. From the ale comes a lightly sweet aroma of malt and of course honey. While honey is in the name it seems from the smell that the intention was to make a light and sessionable brew with a light honey infusion for body and flavour. Tasting the beer, this instinct is confirmed. The light and malty body is softened by the light, and smooth sweetness of honey. This is a beer that is easy to drink and quenches thirst while still remaining a true craft option.
