R&B Brewing Kettle Sour Export Stout Review
In the Mount Pleasant Sereies of beers from the R&B Brewing Company comes the Kettle Sour Export Stout. Sold in bomber bottles and coming in at 50 IBUS and 7.0% this is a unique style of beer and will surely sell out quick. From the bottle the beer pours as a dark and rich coloured beer with one finger of head. The beer appears as if it were a regular-styled stout. Smelling the beer things change slightly from a normal stout. Notes of chocolate, roasted malt and a slight dried fruit sweetness is joined by a faint tartness. The flavour starts off with a tartness and fairly big sour flavour. THis puckering start leads into the roasted malt tones and chocolate flavours. The beer is very polarizing from start to finish with a two-faced flavour profile. Between the two extremes comes a dried fruit flavour that is somewhat reminiscent of a Dubbel. This beer is not Belgian but some of the Dubbel flavours seem to sneak their way into the mix. The Kettle Sour Export Stout is extremely unique and a wonderful way to experience a new style of craft beer.
