Mt Begbie Brewing Co. – Brave Liver Scotch Ale Review
Out of Revelstoke BC comes a new, limited release beer called the Brave Liver. This Scotch Ale pours from the bomber bottle as a dark chestnut colour and is topped with a single finger of head which settles without a trace. On the nose this beer is big with malt tones, a light nuttiness and a caramel-oakiness that gives a bit of extra body to the smell. Tasting the beer it has a big, smooth body that leads into a flavour profile of caramel sweetness, oak, toasted malt and a slight vanilla like tone. The flavour is smooth and goes down easy but is a rather formidable beer at 6.5%. The Brave Liver is low on the carbonation which brings out the sweetness a bit more than expected making for a delicious cold weather seasonal brew.
Alcohol – 6.5%
Size – 650ml bottle
IBU – 22

I find this style is often quite sweet. This one was enjoyable though.
