Dead Frog Brewery – Rocket Man Pale Ale Review
If you have been keeping track of the roster of beers coming from Dead Frog Brewery you may remember the Rocket Man. At one point in time the Rocket Man was an ESB that came in bomber bottles. The name is back but the style has shifted to a Pale Ale. Available now in 341ml bottles the Rocket Man Pale Ale pours into the glass as a cloudy, light amber colour with two fingers of heavily lacing head. A hop-forward aroma comes from the beer with big citrus and tropical aromas that give a big nose to the beer. Tasting the beer it is fairly light bodied and has more to it that the nose suggests. The hop flavours are still tropical and citrus but are rather subdued compared to the nose. The hop flavours are joined with a fairly smooth malt tone that has a slight sweetness to it. The combination of mellow but distinct hops with a balancing malt profile makes the Rocket Man distinctly BC but rather sessionable at the same time.
