Lighthouse Brewing Co. – Pacific Sunset Belgo-American Mild Review
As a part of the Uncharted Series of small batch brews the Lighthouse Brewing Company has brewed up a Belgo-American Mild called the Pacific Sunset. Matt Lyons was the winner of the Ramshackle Brewers Challenge which resulted in this beer coming to fruition. Pouring this home-brew originated beer the Pacific Sunset appears as a golden (sunset) colour with a finger and a half of lacing head which settles slowly. From the beer comes a rich wheat tone with a distinct Belgian Yeast aroma and hop tone from the Amarillo and Vic Secret hops. For being a “Mild” the aroma is actually rather intense. The flavour mirrors the scent quite well. A malty and wheat-infused flavour hits the tongue with a mid-level body the Belgian Yeast adds a slight funkiness to the flavour which builds into a grassy, and lightly fruity hop tone which lingers to the dry finish. The Pacific Sunset is a great example of what it claims to be – a blend of American and Belgian style beers into a unique and flavourful beer.
