Steamworks Brewing Co. – Hop Attack Fresh Hop IPA Review
In collaboration with the Sartori Hop Farm the Steamworks Brewing Company has brewed up the Hop Attack, a Fresh Hop IPA for the fall harvest season. Brewed with fresh off the vine Centennial Hops this IPA comes in a bomber bottle wrapped with a limited edition paper cover. From the bomber bottle the beer pours a golden colour with a thin finger of head. The aroma consists of resinous pine notes and a very fresh, grassy-spruce like smell. The hop bitterness is relatively mild on the nose but the fresh, grass like, resin notes come through rather strong. The body is relatively light for an IPA but it has a distinct resin-pine tone that can only come from fresh hops. The pineyness is not over the top but rather makes for a fairly light IPA flavour. The lightness of the pine bitterness allows for the fresh-hop tones to truly take charge. A grassy, sap like flavour makes the Hop Attack one of the lighter, more fresh-hop forward beers on the market today. This beer is light, fresh and highlights just why fresh hop beers have become all the rage!
