Red Truck Beer Co. – Firefighters’ Friday Red Pilsner Review
Dubbed as “The Bravest Brew” The Firefighters’ Friday is a Red Pilsner from the Red Truck Beer Company. With partial proceeds from sales going to the Vancouver Firefighters’ Charitable Society you can feel good about drinking this beer. From the bomber bottle the beer pours a copper-amber colour with two fingers of lightly lacing head. An aroma of fresh malts, light wheat and a spicy tone make this a light and sessionable yet well flavoured smelling beer. An almost chardonnay like tone adds a unique twist to what you may expect. The body is light with a slight creaminess to it and a mid level of carbonation. The flavour too is light with a mild sweetness that hits the tongue with a malt forward initial flavour The Pilsner malt gives a distinctive Pilsner flavour while a darkness gives much greater depth of character than you may expect. A touch of caramel, wheat and spice build before a light hop bitterness comes into play for the finish. The Firefighters’ Friday is sessionable but has more to it that your typical Pilsner. Bigger body, bigger flavour and an extra dose of enjoyability.
