Bridge Brewing Co. – Dark Rye Sour Saison Review
Bridge Brewing es the second release from Bridge Brewing. Called the Dark Rye Sour Saison this beer is a venture into the world of Sour Ales for Bridge. From the bomber bottle the beer pours as a deep and rich copper-red colour with nearly three fingers of dense and heavily lacing head. The aroma has a dubbel-esque tone of fig, and plum while a peppery rye tone also plays to the senses. The underlying aroma however is pure and true saison with a bit more of a sour kick than typical. The aroma is very interesting and forecast a complex and delicious brew. The body starts off lighter than you may expect with a strong carbonation. The sour tones kick in from hear and lead up to a dried fruit and hop bitter finish. The fig and plum tones join the sour flavours and the peppery spice while a hop bittered bite comes in at the end. The Dark Rye Sour Saison is a rather complex beer with great flavours and is a nice twist on tradition.
