Pumpkin Beer Season Is Here From Central City Brewers & Distillers
Pumpkin Beers are one of the most celebrated fall (beer) traditions in British Columbia. With the turning of the leaves comes a giant wave of autumnal, pumpkin flavour beers.
To celebrate the start of pumpkin beer season the new, Central City Brewpub in downtown Vancouver put on a special pumpkin themed dinner to mark the release of two seasonal brews. First, the Red Racer Spiced Pumpkin Ale is back for 2015 with its light yet well spiced pumpkin-infused body. The sessionable yet pie inspired flavour is here to satisfy the masses. New for 2015 though is a new offering. A Jack Daniel’s barrel aged Imperial Pumpkin Ale is hitting the shelves under the name of Patrick O’Pumpkin. At 8% with a massive body, a light boozy kick and all the pumpkin spice you could dream of, the fall craft beer offerings are off to a great start.
If two pumpkin beers were not enough, attendees of the celebration dinner could try them the traditional way or up their game and give it a try out of a pumpkin cask for an additional hit of pumpkin flavour.
The release of the beers coincided with Central City’s celebration dinner. Pumpkin infusion was key to the dishes here. from pumpkin seed slaw to pumpkin cornbread, pumpkin croquettes and even some pumpkin pork and beans to go with beer-braised roast beef. The flavour of fall has arrived in Vancouver. Subtle yet delicious infusion, along with the beer to match, left all attendees stuffed, satisfied, perhaps a little tipsy and in the spirit of fall. To top off the evening, a pumpkin pie made using the pumpkin beer was served for those with a sweet tooth.
With the opening of Central City’s downtown brewpub their beer as well as a menu of delicious food offerings are closer than you may expect. Head on over to 871 Beatty Street and give it a try for yourself.
