Parallel 49 Brewing Co. – Lil’ Red-Emption 3rd Anniversary Cherry Sour Ale
In response to one of the less popular beers of Parallel 49 Brewing Company’s history they have come out swinging with the Lil Red-Emption Sour Cherry Ale. From the Bomber bottle this fruit-sour beer pours as a very clouded, amber-copper colour with a finger and a half of relatively slow to settle head. From the Lil’ Red comes a sharp, sour cherry tone with a fairly strong sweetness to it. The dark cherry tones are joined with a wine-oak earthiness that adds depth and complexity to the nose. In the flavour, a bubbly, sour tone hits the palate in a fairly light bodied package. The sour isn’t extremely intense but rather refreshing. As the sour tones fade slightly the woody-oak tones and a light chardonnay-grape lightness adds to the ensemble making for a surprisingly easy drinking sour ale with a nice and sour-sweet cherry flavour to tickle your senses. Redemption has never tasted so sweet!
