Spinnaker’s Brewery – Snake Bite Thirty Firssst Aniversary Brew Review
A Snake Bite is traditionally a Stout and Apple Cider blend but the Spinnaker’s version takes a lighter twist using a more sessionable ale and an all-BC Apple Cider. From the Bomber bottle this unique cider-beer blend pours as a golden straw colour with a finger and a half of head that settles quickly and without a trace. An aroma of apple cider comes through on the nose without much of a beer tone. A subtle malt tone and a Blonde Ale like flavour crrep into the cider tones to mellow the apple sourness. The Snake bite starts like a cider and finishes like a beer. Right off the bat a sweet and sour apple cider flavour hits the tongue with a big carbonation level. The apple flavour slowly mellows and leaves way for more of a Blonde Ale finish. The sour-apple tones linger slightly but the beer notes take over for the most part. The Snake Bite is a nice blend of beer and cider that mellows the cider side and adds a bit of a sour-apple twist to a sessionable summer beer.
