Doan’s Craft Brewing Co. – Rye IPA Reveiw
In another iconic German labelled beer the Doan’s Craft Brewing Company has released a Rye IPA that comes in at 6.0% alcohol and 60 IBUs. From the bottle the beer pours as a golden colour topped with a finger and a half’s worth of lightly lacing head. From the beer comes a light hopped aroma filled with citrus notes, piney tones and a touch of rye-spice. The rye tones are lighter than you may expect for the style though. The body too is relatively light with a sessionable, lightly malty start. The hop tones build quickly at the back of the palate while the Rye tones also tend to take charge. The body may be light but the 60 IBUs will give your taste buds a bit of a rough ride with a fairly intense, bitter spice left behind on the palate. The Doan’s Rye IPA may not be as big of a beer as some comparable bottles but it gives a solid hop kick with a twist of rye in a malty and delicious package.
