Phillips Brewing Co. – 3rd Blind Mouse Triple IPA Review
BC is known for big IPAs but Phillips is pushing the meaning of the word “strong” with a 10.2% Triple IPA called the 3rd Blind Mouse. We would assume that the name stems from the fact that you may just go blind from drinking such a strong IPA. Pouring from the colourful, bomber bottle the 3rd Blind Mouse pours as a golden colour crowned with more than three full fingers of head. Appearing slightly overcarbonated the beer has a boozy aroma with strong hop-bitterness, citrus scent and a light soapiness to it. The flavour is intense with a big and bold hop profile hitting the tongue with a whollop of boozy bitterness. The body is not overly heavy but the intensity of the hop and alcohol, along with a citrus flavour does give a slight soapiness to the flavour. If you are a hop-zombie on a brainless march for the ultimate hop experience then you may have met your match. This beer is not for everyone but is a bold representation of the lengths you can go to pushing the limits of an IPA.
