Central City Brewers & Distillers – Red Racer Maple Bacon Ale Review
The Central City Brewers & Distillers have once again partnered with the CFOX Jeff O’Neil Show to brew up the Maple Bacon Ale. Despite the name, vegetarians and even vegans unite, as the beer does not actually contain Bacon. From the bomber bottle this Red Racer branded beer pours as a rich amber colour with two full fingers of fairly slow to settle head. The aroma is also light with a hint of maple and honey-malted sweetness and a subtle beechwood smokiness. The body is rather light and the smokiness quite mellow. A light maple sweetness comes into play but if it was not for the label, bacon is not the first thing that comes to mind. The beer is lighter than last year and much more sessionable but does not offer the same punch that appealed to some. In the height of smoky beers the Maple Bacon Ale is a sessionable and easy drinking offering that donates to charity at the same time.
