Driftwood Brewery – 2015 Singularity Russian Imperial Stout Review
The Singularity is back. The Driftwood Brewing Company knows what the beer drinkers of BC like and the Singularity is it. The relatively consistent label design is even darker this year but if you know the singularity you do not need to know what the label says to know what is contained within. You will be sucked into this beer like an atom poised at the event horizon. Excuse the physics references here as this is craft beer after all. This year the Singularity pors from the wax dipped bottle as a pitch black colour topped with a single finger f dense, dark and lacing head. This thick and dense beer smells of molasses, brown sugar, oak, bourbon and an intoxicating darkness. The flavour is big with a thick and dense imperial stout flavour. the Bourbon Barrel tones are not as strong as it has been in the past but that is not a bad thing. Despite the “less intense” nature of the barrel aged tones this is still a big and bold beer with a stiffness to the body. A boozy, whiskey infused, dark and dense beer makes for an adventure in this year’s Singularity from Driftwood Brewery. Pick up a bottle to enjoy now and another to cellar and enjoy 6 months, a year or even 5 years from today. This beer will not disappoint!
