Green Leaf Brewing Co. – Leaky Barrel Dunkel Weisen Review
Less than a year after opening their North Vancouver brewery the Green Leaf Brewing Company has released the Leaky Barrel Dunkel Weisen. As a barrel aged beer this unique style has been turning heads and sending fans flocking to Lonsdale Quay for a taste. The Leaky Barrel pours from the 650ml bottle as a dark brown colour letting a sliver of light through the glass. Topped with two fingers of fairly dense head a small amount of lacing is left on the glass’s sides. A malty aroma with toasted tones and a hint of chocolate and coffee. The flavour is rather light for the appearance and a nice chocolate tone comes in right of the bat. Coffee and toasted malt join the party but never truly take charge. This dark wheat beer is delicate and filled with subtle tones of chocolate, coffee, toffee and of course wheat. Despite the name there is no barrel-aged flavour that comes through in the taste.
