Dageraad Brewing Co. – Wet Hopped Blonde Ale Review
Dageraad Brewing Company has hit the ground running and in melding their Belgian roots with BC brewing tradition they have brewed up a Belgian Blonde Ale with fresh hops. This seasonal brew pours a very cloudy straw colour topped with a finger and a halfs worth of very loosely packed hed. The wet-hopped blonde ale smells of a crisp and fresh blonde ale with a touch of citrus and belgian yeast. The fresh hops are not overly apparent on the nose but add to the citrus notes and add a crispness to the beer. On the tongue there is a big carbonation factor leading into a belgian blonde with big wheat and belgian yeast tones. Much like int he aroma hops are not front and center but do add a citrus flavour and a bitterness to the finish. This is not an over the top use of fresh hops by any means but adds a unique and quite enjoyable BC twist to a traditional Belgian brew
