Powell Street Brewing Co. – 95 Pounds of Wet Hop Goodness Pale Ale Review
Out of Powell Street Craft Brewery’s new facility comes a Pale Ale brewed with 95 pounds of fresh hop goodness. This Pale Ale pours into the glass an amber colour topped with two fingers of lightly lacing head. The aroma is crisp and fresh with a fresh-hop tone along side a solid set of malt tones. The slightly sap-like hop tones balance well in a light and aromatic aroma. The flavour starts off with a fresh-hop crispness that leads into a lightly carmelized but still light mid section. The fresh hop and carmelization have contrasting flavours adding duality to this beer and the darker, toasted malt tones tend to mask the fresh hops later on in the flavour profile. This may not be a big and hoppy IPA that truly showcases the hop profile but in a fairly hop-forward Pale Ale with nice toasted notes this is a delicious fresh-hop beer that will not be around for long. Get it while you can!
