Tin Whistle Brewing Co. – Killer Bee Porter Review
Brewed with Keremeos Caramelized Honey The Killer Bee is yet another Okanagan inspired brew from the Tin Whistle Brewing Company The beer appears a deep and dark brown colour only letting the brightest of light through the dense body of beer. topped with a single finger of head the Killer Bee smells dark with notes of bittersweet chocolate, caramel and toasted malts. The nose does not scream honey but the caramel tones are likely a result of the honey content. The flavour is relatively light for a porter and not as sweet as you may expect. Warm caramel tones start off with chocolate notes in the background. A sweetness does come into play before a smokiness builds near the finish. The Killer Bee Porter is surprisingly well balanced given the name and focus on caramelized honey. This is a dark beer which is light enough to enjoy year-round. The flavour does not have the depth of some comparable porters but that makes it easily enjoyed whether it is a warm Penticton evening or even a cool night in the Okanagan autumn.
