Green Leaf is on a roll in their Lonsdale Quay based brewery. Seemlessly moving into bottled beers from where they started in growler filling the Les Saisonniers is yet another twist on tradition packaged in the Green Leaf, simple and elegant bottling style. This beer opens with a defined sound of carbonation and pours into the glass erupting with a loosely packed, lightly lacing head. The head is difficult to manage out of the bottle with it even foaming in the bottle once the cap was removed and residual pressure released. You can not judge a book by its cover but there is clearly some over-carbonation from the bottle conditioning at play here. The aroma is of wheat, light coriander, citrus and a mild pepper spice. From here the flavour starts off as a big carbonation, mid-bodied Saison. Notes of coriander, mild caramel and a reasonably strong pepper spice are all rather apparent. Once the head settles the carbonation is quite bearable and the pepper adds a unique spice to the whole package. This is not your typical Saison and you will just have to try it for yourself!
