Parallel 49 Brewing Co. – Defibrillator Doppel Bock Review

From Parallel 49 Brewing Company the Defibrillator has been released in bomber bottles and is a big an d bold Doppel Bock with an impressive 8.5% ABV. This beer pours with a single finger of head which evaporates in the blink of an eye without the slightest of lacing left behind. The head does not resemble that of a traditional bock but more of a sour or even cider. The smell is malt forward with toasted tones, a light nuttiness, oak and a touch of sweetness. The flavour is rather strong with toasted malts and a reasonably strong oakiness up front. The oak gives the beer an earthiness along with a big malt body. The texture is slightly creamy and builds with a light booziness to the flavour enhanced by low carbonation. The Defibrillator leaves a bit to be desired in the mouth-feel with a lacking of any residual head but the flavour is rather nice in a big and strong Doppel Bock package.
