Howe Sound Brewing – Anvil Island Dark Lager Review
Out of Squamish BC’s Howe Sound Brewing is the Anvil Island Dark Lager. Named after a uniquely shaped island found in Howe Sound this beer is adorned with a label that holds the spirit of the name and is artfully crafted label. The beer pours from the 1000ml bottle a deep copper colour topped with two fingers of tightly packed head. The aroma from this dark lager is well malted with notes of toasted chocolate along side a light hop bitterness. The flavour is light and smooth with a slight creamy texture. The toasted malt base along with chocolate tones make for a smooth beer that has a delicate nature to the flavour. The Anvil Island is rather dark and has some flavour to boot but overall this is a light, sessionable and rather enjoyable dark lager.

I gave this one an excellent rating, I make a point to pick up their dark lagers every release and they never disappoint. Overall their beer is quite good.
