Green Leaf Brewing Co. – Liquid Sunshine Weizen Review
From Lonsdale Quay’s Green Leaf Brewing Company comes one of the first bottled beers to come out of this small North Vancouver brewery. Labeled in a unique fashion this Weizen pours from the bottle a very cloudy, golden amber colour topped with three fingers of fine head. The smell coming off this beer is strong with coriander, bitter orange peel and floral wheat tones. The flavour is rather light given the strength in the aroma starting off with coriander and orange in a fairly light flavour combination. This builds into a malty, coriander filled body that leads up to a mild orange peel bitterness in the finish. The beer is definitely on the heavy side for sediment with a significant amount of particulate settling at the bottom of the bottle. This is noticeable in the beer through the flavour but not in a bad way. Giving a greater body to the beer the cloudy nature is a welcome addition. One should be careful when pouring however as that last little bit may give a bit of a surprise. It is fantastic to see yet another BC Craft Brewery enter the bottling side of packaging. Pick up a bottle and try it out for yourself.
