Moon Under Water – Year One Red Wheat Wine Review
In commemoration of the Moon Under Water’s first anniversary under new ownership the brewery has come out with a single batch brew called the Year One Red Wheat Wine. This beer coming in a big 750ml bottle and weighing in at 11.5% is a big bang for a year under the belt. The Year one pours a golden-orange colour with three fingers of head. This wheat wine ale smells strongly of wheat, coriander, mango and a touch of alcohol. The flavour is light given the alcohol strength and starts off with a strong wheat flavour coupled with coriander and flavours of tangerine and apricot. The finish is a heavy wheat back with the lingering fruit sweetness that was met in the mid-section. This beer is big and flavourful with a complex flavour profile which masks the alcohol extremely well. This beer is great right now and a hunch tells me it will be even better if you cellar for another few months!

This was one of the better wheat wines that I have had to this point. Good stuff. Aging would sure not hurt a malt forward beast like this.
