Scandal Brewing – 7 Wonders Mt. Everest Barley Wine Review
The third beer in the Scandal Brewing, Seven Wonders series is a barley wine that goes by the name of My Everest. This beer pours with less than a finger of head above a slightly cloudy, amber coloured ale. Through the thin head comes a cookie like scent with caramel sweetness and a slight hop bitterness. The flavour is not of a typical barley wine but starts off with a sharp, caramel sweetness and toasted malt. This builds into a hoppy-alcohol flavour near to the finish. The flavour as a whole is reminiscent of if you mixed a pale ale with a barley wine. The caramel tones and the lighter side of the beer are like a Pale Ale while the boozy, sharp notes come from the barley wine. While this may not be a typical Barley Wine, the Mt. Everest is actually quite enjoyable and if you are looking for a big beer that has a broader appeal than most similarly categorized beers then this could be for you.

In the scandalous mist of Mt. Everest, one person dies for every ten that reach to summit. Even the first to conquer it, Mallory & Irvine died on their descent. We have hand crafted an extra strong barley wine to salute the brave souls that try.

It was a pretty good beer but I thought imperial pale ale. There us no barley wine characteristics.
