Spirits Are Here! – Deep Cove Brewers And Distillers Release Deep Cove Vodka

It is no surprise that Deep Cove Brewers and Distillers have been experimenting with spirits but it is impressive that their Vodka has made it to market mere months after opening their doors to the public. The Deep Cove Vodka is a Craft Spirit joining the growing number of BC distilled offerings.

This craft offering is unique in a premium spirit offering being Filtered with activated carbon in what Deep Cove is referring to as a Steep Filtering Process. What this means is that the vodka is actually immersed in activated carbon sourced from coconut shells rather than simply passing the vodka through a traditional filter. What this does is allows the harsh flavours be stripped while leaving the slight sweetness to remain post-filtration.

This vodka is not your college shooter by any means. Rather than mixing up a Cesar and piling in the Tabasco the best way to realize the flavour Deep Cove has produced is to sip. In a small glass the aroma is light and mellow. A vodka-boozyness is present but alongside is a malt-based sweetness that mellows the aroma nicely. Much like the aroma the taste is smooth, light and has a defined sweetness to it. Don’t get me wrong this is still vodka and any sugar content is minimal but just that slight addition cuts the edge and makes for a smooth and enjoyable vodka.

The Deep Cove Vodka is very sippable but is also a quality addition to your favorite cocktail. A dry martini or any mixed drink that doesn’t mask the flavour of the vodka too much is a great option. Just remember, you don’t buy quality, craft spirits to hide the flavour.

The Deep Cove Vodka is now available at select craft retailers and direct from the North Vancouver distillery. Bottles are 26oz or 750ml and pricing will start around $36.
