Fernie Brewing Rockpile Red IPA Review

Fernie Brewing Co. – Rockpile Red IPA Review

Fernie Brewing has come from the mountains to release the Rockpile in the form of a Red IPA. This beer is a deep copper coloured ale which pours into the glass with one thin finger of lacing head. As the thin skim of head disperses a thick and bold hop tone comes through strong with caramel and toffee notes paired right up along side. The slightest of alcohol tones are also noticeable with a 7.2% ABV rating. The taste starts of creamy and smooth. Caramel, toffee and toasted malts are right up front leading into a well hopped middle through finish. The finally is a bitter hop with a depth that only a red ale can bring. The overall balance of this beer is fantastic with strong red-ale tendencies balancing out the hop bitterness and adding great caramel and toffee tones. The high alcohol content is definitely noticeable in the flavours but does not take over or make for an overly sharp beer. Fernie has created another winner in the Rockpile Red IPA.
