Mission Springs Brewing Co. – Trailblazer Pilsner Review
A beer with a cause is something worth noting and from Mission springs comes the Trailblazer Pilsner. Brewed as “an ode to the rugged trail builders who have blazed mountain bike trails into the hillsides all over BC.” What this means is that partial proceeds from each bottle are contributed to building mountain bike trails in the Fraser Valley. Besides the philanthropic side of things, The Trailblazer Pilsner is a straw coloured beer that enters the glass topped with a single finger of quickly vanishing head. From this head comes the aroma of a traditional, mild pilsner. No hops here so if you are looking for a burly Czech style Pilsner this isn’t for you. The smell is of malt and a light citrus back that also gives a touch of sweetness. The taste is mild, smooth and easy drinking. The start is crisp and fresh which builds into a malted middle section. The finish is very neutral leaving the palate dry and ready for another sip. This beer may not stand out in a crowd but that is not the point. The beer is refreshing, clean and easy to drink; great for a hot day on the patio or sitting on the beach. Have a bottle then follow it up with another.
