Howe Sound Brewing – Diamond Head Oatmeal Stout Review
An Oatmeal Stout is a piece of international beer tradition and the Howe Sound Diamond Head depicts this tradition to a tee. Black in colour with a single finger of head, the beer smells of toasted malt and has mild notes of chocolate and coffee. The taste is full and smooth with a flavour that can only be created through toasted malt and a true Oatmeal Stout brewing means. The finish is smooth but not necessarily creamy like you may expect. There is also a mild bitterness that stems from the Willamette and Nugget hops that were used in this beer. This beer is traditional and delicious with a true English flavour that is just as it should be. The Diamond Head is strong and flavourful but also very drinkable and enjoyable rendition of a classic style beer.
