Steamworks Brewing Co. – Blitzen Belgian Tripel Review
The Blitzen is a Belgian Tripel style beer by Steamworks Brewing Co. This beer pours a golden-straw colour with a single finger of head that leaves light lacing behind on the glass. The beer smells strongly of coriander, candi-sweetness and a defined Belgian-wheat tone. The aroma is a combination of wheat, Belgian spice and sugar sweetness. The body is big and bold with a sweet creaminess to it. The coriander spice, and a mild Belgian yeastiness and candi-sweetness meld with a kick of booziness. The beer isn’t over the top but a 9.0% alcohol content is hard to hide. The beer isn’t boozy but you will be well aware that the beer has potential to knock you off your feet. ; this beer is a tad creamy and sweet, verging on being a desert beer. The Blizen is a well crafted Belgian Tripel that will warm your soul on the coldest of winter days.
