Spinnaker’s Brewing Co. – Northwest Ale Review
The Spinnaker’s Northwest Ale pours a cloudy-amber colour with the two fingers worht of head that is loosely packed and settles rather quickly leaving light lacing behind on the glass. The smell is strong of pine hop, citrus and floral notes reminiscent of a BC-style IPA. Tasting this beer it is smooth with a touch of creaminess to the body. A distinct and strong hop shines through the flavour while the malted background keeps things in check. Despite a whopping 85IBU this isn’t way out in the deep end of ales. The bitterness is quite strong and leaves a strong aftertaste but still remains balanced and very drinkable. This beer may come across too bitter for those that like it on the mild side but this is definitely one of the better Spinnaker brews available.
