Fernie Brewing Co. – Pumpkin Head Brown Ale Review
The Fernie Brewing Co Pumpkin Brown Ale pours with a relatively dense head approximately a finger and a half thick. This beer captures the majority of all light leaving a reddish glow that shines through. Smelling through the hefty crown this beer smells strong of pumpkin, clove, nutmeg and cinnamon. The aroma more closely resembles a delicate pastry than a brown ale. The taste starts off with a crisp carbonation and builds into a festive dance of spices upon the tongue. A toasted, lightly burnt flavour comes through after the spicy pumpkin middle. The last notes are filled with the crispy bits from the top of a delicious pumpkin pie. As a Brown Ale, this is a darker and stronger flavour than your average but for a pumpkin ale it is actually slightly subdued and lets you experience the beer beyond the spice. In year’s past this beer has come across being bigger and bolder but through time it has evolved into being a well balanced, delicious pumpkin ale
