Overview

The Saltspring Island Golden Ale smells of a malted honey sweetness and the colour is a transparent gold. The honey notes come through strong upon first taste along with a smooth, creamy nuttiness. These flavours last through the beer leaving you with a creamy, sweetness lingering on the tongue. This is a blonde ale that can also be credited as a cream ale. It is a touch sweet but then, most cream ales are. The flavour is good with mild carbonation and a relatively crisp aftertaste. There is a touch of hop that can be sensed in the final notes but overall the sweetness seems to overpower the bitterness that the hop provides. If you can find this beer give it a try, that may be a tough job though as it is only carried in a select number of retail locations.
