Nelson Brewing Co. – 2013 Organic Pumpkin Ale Review

The Nelson Brewing Company came out with another Organic Ale tending to the desires of the health and environmentally concerned BC consumer. This Pumpkin Ale is a fall seasonal offering that can be a little hard to find at BC liquor stores even though it is supposedly carried in the government branches. The Nelson Organic Pumpkin Ale pours an amber colour with a single finger of tightly packed, slow to settle head. Through the relatively thin head comes notes of pumpkin, nutmeg and light cinnamon along with a honey sweetness. The flavour is light with a mild nutmeg spice building as the taste progresses. This spice is linked with cinnamon and pumpkin tones that build as well. The beer remains quite light and finishes with a dry nutmeg spice left on the palate. This pumpkin beer is a great example of a light and very sessionable ale while keeping the pumpkin spice at the front of mind.
